Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the applications and services provided by Saltserv (“we”, “our”, or “us”), including the Booksum app. By downloading, installing, or using our apps, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the apps.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use our apps on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Your use of our apps is also governed by Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which is incorporated into these Terms by reference:

Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA differ, the more protective provision for the user applies to the extent permitted by law.

2. Subscriptions and Purchases

Some features are offered through Booksum Premium, available as in-app purchases:

The exact price for your region is always shown in the app before you confirm any purchase.

Auto-renewal: Auto-renewable subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple Account upon confirmation of purchase, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

Free trial: Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.

Managing and cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Restoring purchases: Previously purchased non-consumable items and active subscriptions can be restored from within the app at any time.

All payments are processed by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment details.

Content you create in our apps (such as the book passages, notes, and summaries you capture in Booksum) belongs to you. This content is stored locally on your device; we do not upload it to our servers. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to capture and store any material you add.

5. Third-Party Services

Our apps may use third-party services to deliver core functionality, including Apple (App Store and in-app purchases) and Google AdMob (advertising in the free tier). AI-powered summaries in Booksum are generated by an on-device model and are not sent to any server. Your use of these features may also be subject to the relevant third party’s terms. 6. Disclaimers

Our apps are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. AI-generated summaries may contain inaccuracies and are provided for convenience only; they are not a substitute for reading the original material. We do not guarantee that the apps will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Saltserv shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the apps.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the apps after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
